EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: EDEN GILDEA

Eden Gildea is the Recruitment Manager for Vergence out of our Corporate office in Indianapolis, IN. Eden started working with Vergence in October of 2013 and is the longest tenured employee with the company. Eden came to Vergence with experience in Recruiting and Human Resources, with a background in a variety of industries.

Eden grew up in a small farming community west of Indianapolis and graduated from Cascade High School and later received her Bachelors Degree from IUPUI. Eden’s hobbies include travel, snorkeling, outdoor activities, music festivals, arts and crafts, home improvement projects, gardening and yoga.

Below are some highlights of our sit-down with Eden to discuss her background and experiences:

What initially got you interested in recruiting?  I studied Business and Social Work at IUPUI.  For me, Human Resources/Recruiting seemed like the perfect combination of these areas of study.  I started my career as a Human Resources Assistant at Meijer and worked my way up from there.

What is the favorite part of your job? Interacting with and getting to know people in order to assist in meeting their needs. Matching candidates with their ideal jobs and clients with their ideal employees is a major aspect of and highlight of my job.

What does a typical day look like for you?  There are no typical days in recruiting, which is what I love about it!  No two days are ever the same.

What would you say would be a highlight of your job at Vergence?  Getting to work with an incredibly talented and dedicated staff at Vergence.  I couldn't do what I do without their support.

What would you say makes Vergence different from other companies you see in the market place?  I admire Vergence's philosophy of providing outstanding, individualized customer service at all levels.  Vergence is a family-centered business and encourages work/life balance, which is difficult to find in the world of recruiting.

What advice would you give other recruiters who may be starting their career I've found that organization, integrity, excellent multi-tasking, communication and listening skills are essential.  Being tenacious and resilient has been key to my 25+ year career in recruiting.  A substantial amount of time, work and effort goes into recruiting, which doesn't always result in a positive outcome.  But, on the days when everything comes together or an employee thanks you for finding them their dream job which has changed their lives for the better or a client wants to hire a contractor on permanently because they're a perfect fit, it makes it all worthwhile!
